Michelle Leighton Gives a Glimpse into her New Book!

Today I am pleased to welcome Michelle Leighton, author of The Reaping. She has a new book coming out, the 2nd installment of her Fahllen series: The Reckoning. She is graciously sharing with us a look into her new book, The Reckoning!
The Reckoning
Carson Porter thought she’d had one of her most challenging years to date when she began her transformation into a reaper, but little did she know her battle had only just begun.
Faced with changes in her boyfriend, Derek, the fear of her sister being able to steal her powers through mirrors and having to fight her every step of the way to rescue even one soul, Carson was nearly ready to throw in the towel.  Only she can’t.  During a visit from an angel, Carson learns that her destiny is far more important than even she realized—and far more deadly.  Can she dig deep within herself for the strength and the perseverance that she’ll need to carry out her mission?  And will she have to do so without Derek or can she recover the man she’d once loved so desperately?  Find out in the exciting conclusion of the Fahllen series, The Reckoning.
Now onto that Glimpse Look!  The beginning of The Reckoning!
Shadows flexed all around me as I made my way down the deserted street.  Long, black fingers stretched into the light—reaching for me, straining toward me—only to shrink quickly away, receding into the ocean of darkness.  They could no longer touch me, no longer get close to me.  They just didn’t know why.
Instinctively, I knew they wanted to hurt me, to envelope and smother me.  They wanted to curl their dark digits around my throat like a collar of death and squeeze until there was no life left in my body.  But they couldn’t.  My light, though not visible to the human eye, was too bright.  The shadows could not hold their form against it, against me.   They could not abide the white, shining soul of Heaven’s reaper.

You can buy this enticing new novel on Halloween Day (TODAY)! What better way can you celebrate Halloween!

If you haven’t already read the 1st installment in this amazing new series, get off your bum and do so!
Every hell has its devil. And Carson is about to become intimately acquainted with hers.

Seventeen-year-old wallflower Carson Porter has always dreamed of being something special, but what she gets isn’t what she signed up for.

Yeah, a girl’s supposed to change as she gets older, but this is ridiculous! Shiny skin, greener eyes and a run-in with the flesh-eating dead are just a few of the changes Carson has to adjust to, not to mention the arrival of very hot and very dangerous Derek Hrolf. If all that wasn’t enough to turn her once hum-drum life into something unrecognizable, a twin sister that haunts her from the shadows and a wheeling, dealing collector of souls will definitely do the trick. The question is: what will her life become? And what will she become?

Don’t forget to enter in Michelle’s giveaway to win both The Reaping and The Reckoning!

Into the Past with Jillian Dodd, author of That Boy + Giveaway

I am pleased to have today Jillian Dodd, author of That Boy.
Jillian has graciously shared what books her past self would recommend at ages 5, 11, 16 & 20
So without further ado!
At age 5
my mom read to me. We usually read classics. My Friend Flicka, Treasure Island, Gulliver’s Travels, Huck Finn.
at 11
I read absolutely anything I could get my hands on. I’ve read every Nancy Drew mystery book. Loved Encyclopedia Brown. Read one of my favorite books ever, A Wrinkle in Time. I also read Are You There God, It’s me, Margaret around that age.
at 16
I was busy with sports, homework, and boys, so I didn’t read as much as I used to. I used to read Harlequin Romances that I borrowed from my friend’s mom, and felt very grown up. We also read more classic type books in school. Our Town, which is quoted in That Boy, was one of my favorites.
at 20
I was in college, working, partying, dating the guy I would marry. I liked anything romantic with a little bit of mystery or adventure. Sandra Brown, Sidney Sheldon, Janet Dailey, Elizabeth Lowell, Judith Michael. I loved The Spy Went Dancing and The Spy Wore Red by Aline the Countess of Romanones.
Since then, I’ve read so many things. I love Young Adult Series. Gossip Girl, The Clique, The It Girl, Young James Bond, Artemis Fowl, Pendragon, Deltora Quest.
I also love books with spies and adventure like anything by James Rollins, Dan Brown, Tom Clancy, David Balducci, Brad Thor, Daniel Silva, Janet Evanovich, Stuart Woods.
I loved the Harry Potter series, and enjoyed Twilight. I also totally cracked up at I Hope the Serve Beer in Hell.
This is what I’ve read in the last few months:
  • James Rollins, The Devils Colony
  • Stuart Woods, Bel-Air Dead
  • The YA fantasy, Exiled, by M.R. Merrick.
  • A Dan Brown style book, called The Hand of Christ by Joseph Nagle. (My current read right now is the sequel called The History Thief.)
  • And my new obsession by Lani Wendt Young is a book called Telesa. It’s got action, romance, intrigue, and a really hot guy. My kind of book!! I can’t wait for book two in the series.
  • Next up on my reading list is The Bridge Club by Patricia Sands.
  • Then I need to reread the last Twilight book before the movie comes out!!
I have a whole lot of books and finally have a pretty big library to hold them all in! I also have a thing for hardback books. Those are the ones I always used to buy. Now days though, I read all my books on my kindle or nook. Ebooks are awesome, and I can buy twice as many!
Thanks for having me here today! It was great fun remembering all the great books through the years. Also wanted to let you know that the sequel to That Boy, which is called That Wedding, will be released in January 2011! And you can always find me on twitter @JillianDodd or at my blog,
Jillian Dodd is graciously giving away a copy of That Boy that you can download directly from her site.

** 2011 Debut Author! **
That Boy is a contemporary romance about falling in love with the boys next door.

You know, being friends with two cute boys does have its benefits.

There’s Danny. Danny is a golden boy in every way. He has dreamy blue eyes and blonde hair that always looks perfect, even when it’s windblown or been stuck under a football helmet. He’s the boy every girl crushes on. The boy I get into trouble with, the boy I fight with, the hot quarterback no girl can resist, not even me. Being with Danny is like being on an adventure. He has a bright, contagious smile and abs to die for. He’s pretty much irresistible.

Equally crush worthy is Phillip. Adorable, sweet Phillip, who I have known since birth.  Phillip has dark hair, a perfect smile, brown eyes, and the sexiest voice I have ever heard. He’s the boy I talk to every night before I go to sleep. The boy who rescues me, the boy who can read my mind, the boy who is always there for me, the boy who tries to keep me out of trouble, the boy who irritatingly keeps getting hotter, and whose strong arms always seem to find their way around me.  And when he gives me that grin, I can never say no.

One boy will give me my very first kiss.
One boy will teach me to make out.
One boy will take me to prom.
And finally, one boy will ask me to marry him.
They will both be my best friends.
But only one of them will be the boy I fall in love with.
Only one of them is That Boy.

Like Jadyn, Jillian Dodd has drank from a keg in a cornfield, did attend the University of Nebraska, and once spent half a day walking beans.
Unlike Jadyn, she does know all the words to Dear Old Nebraska U.
She currently resides in Texas with her family, where she is working on the sequel to That Boy.
She is a voracious reader herself and can easily lose a day immersed in a good book. She is an avid college football fan and active in her sorority’s alumni group. She was lucky enough to find her own prince in college, and they have two amazing children and a Maltese named Sugar Bear and a new Lab puppy named Camber Lacey.
You can find Jillian Dodd at her Site / GoodReads / Twitter / Facebook
