Salvation has its price.
The words stunned Adrian for a moment, but he kept going. “You’re lying. What you’re describing is impossible. There’s no way to save a Strigoi. When they’re gone, they’re gone. They’re dead. Undead. Forever.”

In Richelle Mead’s 5th installment to her Vampire Academy series, the emotions continue to run high and disappointment is never found. As with the previous installments, coming up with the right words to describe how amazing this book (and series) is is rather difficult (actually, very difficult). But here I go…

**** BEWARE A BIT OF A SPOILER ALERT (but not too much)****

After her long journey to Siberia, Dimitri’s homeland, Rose is back at the Academy. Unable to fulfill her promise to Dimitri, to end his life as a Strigoi, she now tries to look towards the future, and graduation. After everything Rose has been through Graduation should be a piece of cake… Right??

Rose struggles with the future that is in front of her. At one time she desired nothing more than to be free from the Academy and to graduate, looking forward to being Lisa’s, her best friend, Guardian. However, all this entails becomes clear to her. She will be giving up her own personal freedom and devoting the rest of her life to someone else. Where does that leave “her” in that life?

On the other hand, information that Rose learned in Siberia has sparked a new hope in returning Dimitri to his once loveable and ever attractive self. With the help of her friends, Rose embarks on a journey in one last attempt to save Dimitri. At the same time her relationship with Adrian grows and Rose finds herself enjoying life with him.

Once again Richelle Mead has done a flawless job! With each installment the characters grow in front of your eyes. Her skills at plot and character development are beyond this world. There really is not much wrong one can say about Richelle Mead and the Vampire Academy Series – I for one cannot think of anything negative to say. I devoured this book in a few days. Knowing that this is the 2nd to the last book I ended this book with a heavy heart. Not only does the ending make you scream (both out of aggravation because of the MAJOR cliff hanger, but also because of the events), sad (because you know the END is coming soon), but also dieing to read on.

As always, character development for me is key! You become invested in every character, even Adrian (who I personally did not start out liking in Frostbite). You root and cheer for them in their individual “fights” and feel their pain when they are grieving.

There is only one word to describe this book: BRILLIANT!!! If you haven’t started reading this series… WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR???? Seriously!
